Tudor Spring Bars Size Guide
Last Update : October, 2026
We have created this reference chart for vintage and modern Tudor watches, including model names, reference numbers, and the corresponding spring bar sizes.
All information in this chart is based on our own research and collected data. While we strive to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information possible, 100% accuracy cannot be guaranteed, as spring bar specifications may vary depending on the watch model and application. We will continue reviewing and updating this chart as new information becomes available.
Tudor watches commonly use spring bars with either a 1.8 mm or 1.5 mm diameter, depending on the watch and the type of strap or bracelet being fitted. Stainless steel bracelets typically require specific spring bar specifications, while leather straps may be fitted with thinner spring bars, depending on the model and application. Many collectors prefer 1.5 mm spring bars for leather straps.
At Milano Straps, we offer both 1.5 mm and 1.8 mm spring bars to help you find the right option for your watch and strap combination.
Use the chart below as your guide, select the appropriate spring bar size, and shop our Tudor spring bars in 1.5 mm or 1.8 mm.

19 mm vintage lug width. Smaller drill holes than the Submariners; requires 19 mm vintage Oyster bars (equivalent to Rolex Ref. 23-9290 / 23-9250 style). |
Technical Differences: Modern vs. Vintage Tudor Tolerances
-
Drilled Lug Holes vs. Blind Lugs
- Vintage (Drilled Lugs): Exclusively requires shoulderless spring bars. Installing flanged bars into drilled-lug cases weakens exterior retention, while installing shoulderless bars into modern blind-lug cases will permanently lock the bar into the lug, requiring destructive cutting to remove.
- Modern (Blind Lugs): Exclusively requires double-flanged spring bars with defined access collars for fork or tweezer-style removal tools.
-
Pivot (Tip) Diameter Discrepancy
- Modern Cases: Machined to 0.90 mm pivot boreholes. A 1.20 mm vintage pivot will not seat.
- Vintage Diver & Chrono Cases (Rolex-made): Drilled to accept 1.15 mm – 1.20 mm heavy pivots (Ref. 23-9291 standard). Using a standard 0.80 mm or 0.90 mm pivot bar will produce radial play ("rattle"), which leads to mechanical elongation and ovalization of the vintage lug holes over time.
-
Leather & Strap Clearance
- Modern Black Bay cases (41 mm, 58, 54, Pro) have tightly positioned spring bar holes close to the mid-case. Pairing these with 1.80 mm body bars provides maximum clearance, preventing thick leather strap edges or multi-pass nylon from abrading against the case wall or bezel overhang.
